  • Shutdown Day 20: President Trump will travel to McAllen, Texas, today to push his case for a wall at the southern border. Meanwhile, federal workers will miss their first paycheck tomorrow as agencies like the Coast Guard advise their furloughed workers to hold a garage sale or work as a “mystery shopper” to make ends meet as the shutdown continues.   • Stormy Meeting: Trump walked out of a meeting with Democratic leaders after Sen. Chuck Schumer says the president “sort of slammed the table.” Trump tweeted that the meeting over the partial government shutdown was “a total waste of time.” Speaker Nancy Pelosi told reporters outside the White House: "It's cold out here and the temperature was not much warmer in the Situation Room.” Read more here.

  • Snow Alert: A cold front has descended over much of the country and will be followed by a significant weekend snowstorm that will impact parts of the midwest, south, and east coast with snow and ice accumulations from St. Louis to D.C. Read more here.

  • Hostless Oscars: The Oscars are going hostless this year, according to Variety. It would be only the second time in the show’s history there will be no host; the first was 30 years ago and not well-received. Comedian Kevin Hart was slated to host the Feb. 24 awards, but stepped down over controversy about past homophobic tweets. Read more here.

  • Kevin Hart: Kevin Hart wouldn’t directly answer questions when Good Morning America co-host Michael Strahan repeatedly asked him about the Oscars controversy, saying he’s “over it.” Hart, who has apologized, says he’s “done all that he can do.” He did confirm he will not be hosting this year.   • Justice Department: Rod Rosenstein, the deputy attorney general overseeing the Russia investigation, is expected to step down from his post only after the special counsel finishes his work. Sources told NBC that Bob Mueller is expected to conclude the wide-ranging investigation by mid-to-late February, and a report would follow a few weeks later. Read more here.

  • Bacon Blitz: McDonald’s is adding several bacon items to its menu. Starting January 30, you’ll be able to buy Cheesy Bacon Fries, The Big Mac Bacon burger and Quarter Pounder Bacon burger. Read more here.

  • Bezos Divorce: Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and his wife, MacKenzie, have filed for divorce after 25 years of marriage. Bezos, who is the richest person in the world worth around $137 billion, is reportedly dating Lauren Sanchez, a former television host and estranged wife of a prominent Hollywood agent. It is unknown if Bezos and his wife have a prenup.Read more here.

  • Coaching Debate: A Dallas sportscaster known for his viral monologues slammed the NFL for not hiring enough minority coaches. Dale Hansen of WFAA said of Kliff Kingsbury being hired to coach the Arizona Cardinals: “He's an offensive genius, he's young — and he's white, and not necessarily in that order." Watch here.

  • Curtis vs. Fiji Girl: Jamie Lee Curtis let her displeasure over the "Fiji Water Girl" be known via social media. The actress posted an image that shows the Golden Globes Fiji Water Girl ー who shot to fame after appearing in the background of multiple red carpet photos ー in the photo and called out Fiji and Moet for “blatant promotions.” See the post here.

  • Saved by the Bell: Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Dustin Diamond, who played Zack and Screech on "Saved By The Bell," haven’t spoken in more than 20 years. Gosselaar told Bravo’s Andy Cohen they last spoke in 1994. Gosselaar has previously spoken out against Diamond’s tell-all book, released in 2009. Read more here.
